What is NaNoWriMo?
For those who are unfamiliar, every November thousands of writers get together and encourage each other to the common goal of writing a 50,000 word novel in just thirty days. It is an exercise in embracing the word vomit to be sure, but for me, it has always proved to be the motivator I need to get words onto a page. While not all of my projects have worked out, Whiteout was the product of NaNoWriMo 2014 and its sequels were subsequently written in 2016 and 2017!
For those who want to try the challenge of putting 50,000 words to the page in a month and want a little extra encouragement, feel free to add me here: https://nanowrimo.org/participants/mac_ashton
What am I writing for 2018?
Well, 2018 marks my 11th year for the competition, and I’ve decided I want to get real weird with it. This year I will be writing An Interstellar Comedy-Horror-Sci-Fi Epic That Inexplicably Leads to My House [Working Title]. Working logo below. Let me just say, I think I nailed it.
Where can I read what is no doubt the most important modern novel of our time?
This is going to be extremely work in progress. I’m going to be spending little to no time editing, and if the story stops making sense, I’m going to soldier on, because that’s what you do for NaNoWriMo. If you’re not scared off by that, I’ll be posting all of the draft chapters to my Wattpad here: https://www.wattpad.com/myworks/166013262-an-interstellar-comedy-horror-sci-fi-epic-that-inexplicably-leads-to-my-house
